Maelström

This work was composed in the composer’s personal studio and is dedicated to Enikö Ginzery.
Maelstrom is a vortex, an irresistible force where the out boundaries are softer, but as we approach the center, the attraction and energy increases extremely. In some way, it could be compared to the “gat” section of a Hindu “raga”, where the progression towards the end of the piece becomes more and more rhythmical and impetuous.
Maelstrom is built the same way. The further we advance in the piece the interaction between the tape and the instrument becomes more present. In the end the two characters mix themselves in a single musical gesture, the “vortex”.
